Somebody's Turning 1 Tomorrow!

I am filled with joy and all sorts of other emotions! I can't believe my Jacob will be a year old tomorrow!

Thank God that Jacob's fever is gone already. He's had a fever for 2 1/2 days already. Took Calpol to bring it down. Now I pray that I don't get sick next because that will be a disaster this weekend!

Looking back, a year ago today we were on our way to the doctor's office for my 40th week check up. I believe I was still stuck at 1 dilation. My doctor decided to induce me to help things progress faster. We already had our bags in the car just in case we are asked to stay.

Our Birth Story
I had my 40th week check-up at my OB-GYN's clinic. I was still stuck at 1 CM so she decided to start the induction process that night. Jacob was already big inside me and we didn't want him to get any bigger so we agreed to it. Good thing we brought all our things already. My labor bag, as well as our stuff during our stay in the hospital.

Before going to the delivery room of St. Luke's, I had dinner first with Oscar and Mom. I only had a hotdog sandwich. I didn't want to be full because I've read stories of Moms in labor who threw up everything they ate.

I got some rest and fell asleep until 3-something PM. I would drift in and out of sleep. Gosh, that drug was amazing. I would wake up when a doctor would do an IE, then fall back to sleep. Around that time during an IE, the doctor was surprised to find out that I am fully dilated, but still in -1 station. I guess all I needed was to let my body relax so I could dilate! She also felt my bag of waters already bulging, but a few wiggles inside, my water broke naturally. My gosh it felt like a faucet was opened! They immediately changed my sheets after that. My OB-GYN said that we'll wait an hour for my baby to descend some more. I said I wanted to stand up so I could help him. They laughed and then I realized I got an epidural so that was not possible. I asked for a few ice chips to suck on as I was very very thirsty. After that I fell back to sleep.

READ MORE OF OUR PARTY PREPARATIONS AFTER THE BREAK!
You might be wondering how things are going with the preparations for the party. Well...

The paper lanterns from Pottery Barn are open and ready to be placed. I have about 30 lanterns open. These were supposed to be used on our wedding but our 'dream wedding' has yet to come. :) We are putting them up outside on Saturday afternoon in case in rains in the morning.

Bubble Water Bottles are labeled. Osc helped me with the background while I did the rest. Yay!

We tried making confetti last night with craft punchers but they are so hard to use!

I decided to use colored sandwich bags for the candy buffet instead of big paper bags.

The polka dot balloons from Party City are ready to be blown up (doing this on Friday) and we got balloon sticks from Toy Kingdom. I also got a simple birthday banner for tomorrow's small celebration for his actual birthday.

So far that's it. The jars and vases for the candy buffet are cleaned and the candies are all here now!

I feel like it's Thursday or Friday already! My body feels like its been working endlessly for weeks now and it's driving me nuts! I really pray I don't get sick.

Thank You God for the strength and thank You God for my son, husband and family!

  8. I always thought any baby turning 1 is deserving to have well-crafted designer rings as memento from godfathers and godmothers alike. You reckon?
