Jacob's 1st Birthday Party

Birthday boy wearing his Baby Gap onesie from Ninang Rozel

After how many months of preparing for the big day (just like a wedding in my opinion!), we're finally done with the 1st Birthday Party! I couldn't have asked it to go any other way. All our closest friends were there as well as family. Well, not all family. I wish my sisters and family in the US were here to celebrate with us, but that's like reaching for the moon.

Anyway, the night before the 26th, the caterer came over and left the tables and chairs already so that they will just set up tomorrow. Turns out, they have 4 events the same day! Good thing we know the caterer. Thanks Ms. Heidi Ong! I recommend them really, the food was yummy. I particularly loved the pasta dish. As with any party you throw, the hosts barely get to eat the food. So yeah, I only got to eat so little of the caterer's food because I was all over the place, talking to friends and family.

We borrowed a tent from our 'baranggay' in case it rains or for those hot hours in the day. They were also set up the night before. My friend and our house help also put up the decorations inside the house as well as some of the lanterns outside. Turns out, putting up all the lanterns outside the night before wasn't such a good idea because I had to rush out of the house at 2 o' clock in the morning to pull down a few of them because it started raining. I was in my freakin' robe because I just had a massage! Lol. The balloons were also blown up and attached to sticks ready to be used the next day. The karaoke machine that we rented came early the next day. READ THE REST OF HIS 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY AFTER THE BREAK!

Somebody's Turning 1 Tomorrow!

I am filled with joy and all sorts of other emotions! I can't believe my Jacob will be a year old tomorrow!

Thank God that Jacob's fever is gone already. He's had a fever for 2 1/2 days already. Took Calpol to bring it down. Now I pray that I don't get sick next because that will be a disaster this weekend!

Looking back, a year ago today we were on our way to the doctor's office for my 40th week check up. I believe I was still stuck at 1 dilation. My doctor decided to induce me to help things progress faster. We already had our bags in the car just in case we are asked to stay.

Our Birth Story
I had my 40th week check-up at my OB-GYN's clinic. I was still stuck at 1 CM so she decided to start the induction process that night. Jacob was already big inside me and we didn't want him to get any bigger so we agreed to it. Good thing we brought all our things already. My labor bag, as well as our stuff during our stay in the hospital.

Before going to the delivery room of St. Luke's, I had dinner first with Oscar and Mom. I only had a hotdog sandwich. I didn't want to be full because I've read stories of Moms in labor who threw up everything they ate.

I got some rest and fell asleep until 3-something PM. I would drift in and out of sleep. Gosh, that drug was amazing. I would wake up when a doctor would do an IE, then fall back to sleep. Around that time during an IE, the doctor was surprised to find out that I am fully dilated, but still in -1 station. I guess all I needed was to let my body relax so I could dilate! She also felt my bag of waters already bulging, but a few wiggles inside, my water broke naturally. My gosh it felt like a faucet was opened! They immediately changed my sheets after that. My OB-GYN said that we'll wait an hour for my baby to descend some more. I said I wanted to stand up so I could help him. They laughed and then I realized I got an epidural so that was not possible. I asked for a few ice chips to suck on as I was very very thirsty. After that I fell back to sleep.

Preparing for Jacob’s 1st Birthday

His actual birthday is just a few days away and I am excited! I can’t believe my little boo-boo is turning 1! What the heck?! Where did the time go? I believe I was not sleeping for the most part of the past 12 months so how can he be a year old already?

Hey little guy! Happy Birthday!

Every day we see a new side of his personality. He’s even more silly now, he loves making faces and trying to make me or his Dad smile. It’s so adorable when he sneaks up behind me while I am sitting on the bed and tries to peak over my shoulders or sides to make me look at him and then he would throw into fits of giggles just because I looked and smiled at him. Sigh!

I wish I could actually share him to you guys so that you can see how he’s turning into this amazing little child that just wows you with everything he does. READ MORE AFTER THE JUMP!

Family Friday

While I am busy working, my two favorite men are having fun in the other room. I'm sure it's so much fun without Mom constantly watching over them.

So Jacob has been saying words lately, like "Dada" "Daddy" "Aw" (He has accustomed this to dogs barking. Blame our helpers please :| ), "Daday" (the helper in our Aunt's house who Jacob loves), and sometimes "Ma/Mom/Mommy" when he got hurt, is crying, wants me or milk. Well, today, he just wanted to rub it to my face how he loves calling someone else. In my defense, it is waaaaay easier to say/pronounce than "Mom".

Whatever. I know he still loves me so dearly. :D

The Last Planner You'll Ever Have

I'm posting this so late in the year in terms of planners coming out for 2012, but here goes!

Being an OC the person that I am, I would have a planner or two by my side. As if having an iPhone or an iPad isn't enough, I feel the need to actually jot down appointments and to do lists. I sometimes wonder why I even bother to be 'techy' but they are helpful especially since actual planners can't tell you, "Hey! Your appointment is today!".

See what I mean? Photo courtesy of my friend, Faye. Read her blog here.

I once tried and successfully got one of those Starbucks Planner that people go crazy for. It was during the time that Osc and I were going through a rough patch in our relationship and I was burying myself with school, tons of coffee and alcohol. And those were the days I was thinner. Hahaha! Anyway, I did end up gifting it to a friend instead since I had so much already during that time.

Anyway, a good friend of mine who is part of the PR team behind this wonderful and unique planner sent me a copy of The Last Planner You'll Ever Have. They have been pre-selling these limited edition planners on their Multiply Store and on Facebook with sales sky rocketing just merely a month after its release. READ MORE AFTER THE BREAK!
