Recap of Our 2012

I've been seeing my Mommy blogger friends doing recaps of their 2012. My head's still in a bit of a hiatus so let's do one for our little family! Here's our 2012 with the help of recapping in Facebook Timeline too. See? The Timeline isn't so bad!

January

I miss them!
We welcomed the New Year with our family in New Jersey. My birthday wish (from 2011) came true because we got to travel to the U.S. for the first time as a family. I badly wanted my sisters to meet Jacob, as well as Oscar's relatives in California.

February

I started blogging crazy after the holidays. And I got my first sponsor to do a giveaway here! I was pretty thrilled and I got even more inspired in really building my blog and sharing our stories. It's all because of my fellow Mom bloggers and random citizens who read my blog! Thank you!

March

I was blessed with work that has given me so many opportunities to grow as an individual aside from being a wife and a mother. I am still currently employed by the same company, and I can't thank my God enough for an employer who is very understanding and patient with me whilst I juggle being a Mom and working for them. Thank you!

April

He was scared of the water, didn't go in until the next day. Even then he was scared!

Took Jacob on his very first road trip in the country and his first beach vacation. Sadly, Oscar wasn't able go with us that time because of work. So we enjoyed the beach with my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephews, and Jacob's Godfather.

May

Jacob's First Birthday! After months of preparation, the 1st birthday is over! Just like that. We had good food, great company, and a healthy little boy!

June - July
Before the cut. Oh my goodness, I miss his hair!
He didn't cry during his first haircut. Now, it's all tears and tantrums!
And after, he looks like a big boy! :(
Jacob's First Haircut. I consider this a milestone because it's when he started looking like a toddler, no longer a baby. He lost that soft, fuzzy, and crazy hair that he had since birth. I told Oscar that he looked like a naughty boy up to no good since he got his haircut. I swear to you, he never looked the same again. No longer my tiny little boy. :(

During these months, he also learned how to walk. I keep these videos on my phone so I can always look back at that wonderful time that he discovered life above his crawling view. Oh gosh, I'll try not to cry while making this recap post!

August

Our first trip without Jacob! Oh no! It was hard leaving him for 2 days, he was even asleep when we got back home. Poor guy. He had some stomach aches I think since he only had formula for a day and a half and he threw up at one point the next day. I really can't leave him that's why it's so hard for us to go on a vacation or a trip with friends. I must have him by. my. side! Lol.

September

Birthday lunch at Vikings Buffet

Jacob's Dedication at The Linden Suites
Jacob and I had a joint celebration, my birthday and his Dedication. I am so happy that friends and family could make it as the Dedication was short notice. I'm spiritually happy now that Jacob is officially part of our Church.

October

Looking out the window of our room
He wanted to jump right in!
They don't look pleased, huh?
We went on a mini staycation at The Exchange Regency because of a nice deal I got from Groupon. Just us three where we cuddled in bed and swam in cold water (night swimming is not a good idea with a toddler!) with Jacob's Aunt.

November

Good food at Sonya's Garden

He thought this was a place to take baths that he was ready to jump in too!
A weekend in Tagaytay where we visited and ate and ate at Sonya's Garden with Lola and two friends. Glad we pushed through with this trip even though a lot of people cancelled. It's different pala when you travel with a baby/toddler na. Most of our trips in Tagaytay usually consist of just friends and non-stop alcohol until the wee morning. How life has changed! LOL.

And I attended my first ever blog conference, Blogopolis 2012! I learned so much and I have still yet to share with you what I've learned from professional bloggers who have been earning so much from their blogs just because they're doing it right! But don't get me wrong, they also blog because of their passion for writing and sharing their stories to other people so it was not all about learning how to monetize your blog.

December

Buffet spread at Oscar's 25th
Oscar's birthday celebration where I made a complete buffet spread for the first time! It was tough (I started preparing the night before!), but since I strategically planned out my grocery shopping and order of cooking each dish, I successfully prepared food for 20 people! Looking back, I never did get a chance to blog about the party! I was too frustrated and pissed off at what happened during my unnecessary confinement at Fatima Medical Center.

In Bulacan with the Santiagos
In Manila, with the Llamanzares'
In Marikina, with the Romeros

Spent our first Christmas in Norzagaray, Bulacan. I've always wondered what they did in Bulacan during Christmas since Oscar's family has been going there for as long as I can remember. We started dating in 2002, and every Christmas Eve, they'd go there to visit his Dad's side of the family. We'd try to talk on our mobile phones until Christmas comes, but usually they welcome Christmas midnight all together so he'd just call me as soon as it hits 12:00 MN. And now, there we were in the same place that I've been only imagining of. I sometimes look back at how far along we've come together as a couple. And it's crazy to think that after all those years, we did make it. We got married and now we have a beautiful son together. Yes, spending Christmas in Bulacan made me think about that! :D

This Christmas season was particularly tiring because of all the traveling we did. On Christmas Eve, we went to my relatives living 45 minutes away. Then traveled 1.5 hour to Bulacan. Christmas day, traveled 2 hours to Marikina to visit his maternal side of the family then 45 minutes again to go back to my relative's house, then home in 45 minutes. Phew! Thinking about it made me wonder how Jacob endured all that sitting on his carseat!

So there you have it folks, that's our 2012! I wish I could have made it more interesting for you but that's our simple life. We're still adjusting to our new life as a family so we pretty much just stay at home because it's more comfortable there. When Jacob gets older, I guess that's when the adventures start!

  2. Your new year was very inspiring! We spent our new year away from families and relatives for the 7th straight time. This is still one of our Christmas and New Year's wish awaiting to come true. The grand parents have yet to meet one of the two apos and our Derick has yet to step on Philippine soil. Thanks for sharing Roxy. Hopefully we would have a chance to spend Christmas and New Year's holidays with family and relatives at home. ^_^

    1. Yeah surprisingly, I learned how to enjoy a salad too at Sonya's because of their delish dressing! I should buy one next time to take home. Ang sarap talaga! And yes, a buffet is possible pala but it takes 1 week of planning and at least 1 day preparations!

  8. A very memorable 2012, you have so many family bonding. After I gave birth, no more date with hubby because I can't leave my son to anyone.

    1. I am somewhat in the same phase as you. I wish we had a nanny that I can fully trust enough to leave him with so we can go out. But I'm really more comfortable with a relative watching him at night.
